Today we break down your summer road trip essentials. We’ll give you the list of everything you will need to make your next road trip a success, all you will have to do is pack!

Comfort Is Key

It’s time to pack for your road trip! Regardless of if you’re driving two hours or twelve hours, you’re going to want to make sure that you are comfortable. This means that you’ll want to dress in the coziest gear that you own. Leggings, socks, comfy shoes, sweats, and sweaters are your best friends here. If your journey is a bit longer, you’ll want to make sure that you pack blankets and a neck pillow or a regular pillow, if you’ve got the room.

It’s no secret that you’ll be subjected to the sun for the majority of your travels, so don’t forget to pack some sunglasses to protect yourself from the rays, and maybe even an eye mask if you’re going to need a nap to refuel your energy. Bonus tip, pack earplugs if your crew loves their road trip tunes and you love your road trip naps. This way, when you’re ready for some shut-eye, simply recline, cover yourself up, and drift into a sweet, sweet nap.

Technology

You wouldn’t go anywhere without your phone, right? Certainly, this road trip isn’t any different. Tech items that you’ll want to pack and have with you are a camera, GPS system, and great tunes for listening. Thankfully, nowadays most of that can be covered all with your phone. This is a great opportunity to take a peruse through your music library and compile all the sing-along worthy songs that are sure to be accompanied by a few solos and a lot of laughs. If your phone has been nominated to play the tunes and navigate the trip, you’re going to need a lot of extra juice along way, so don’t forget to pack all the necessary chargers required!

If you need some quiet time for yourself along the way, bring some noise-canceling headphones so you can jam alone for a bit! But once you get to your destination, you’ll want to all vibe together so a Bluetooth speaker is also a must! A tablet is another great item to pack if you’re traveling with kids. Pre-download a few Netflix movies and tv shows, you’ll thank us later.

Vehicle Safety

Your vehicle is the mode of transportation that is going to take you from point A to point B so it’s paramount that you top up all of your fluids and get an oil change if you’re almost close to that number written on the sticker for your next due oil change. In case of an emergency, make sure that your spare tire is ready to roll (literally). Don’t forget to also pack your jumper cables! Whether or not you’re inclined to drive a few kilometres over the speed limit, it’s important to pack your driver’s license, registration, and any proof of insurance that you may need. What would a heading labeled “vehicle safety” be without mentioning a first aid kit! Pack your kit, so you’ll be well equipped to tackle any door jammed fingers that may come your way.

Snacks and Drinks

This category goes without saying, you’re probably going to get hungry! If your travel is longer, you’re bound to make a stop or two along the way to replenish. However, packing light and healthy foods and drinks will help you to avoid that “uncomfortably full” feeling that is often acquired after devouring that juicy burger at the all too tempting roadside diner. Cut-up fruit and vegetables, sandwiches, and granola bars are all light and healthy options. You’ll need to wash your snacks down with some liquids, so don’t forget to bring a large water bottle. We recommend a YETI or a Hyrdo flask that is insulated and will keep your water cold for hours!

Entertainment

EntertainmentMusic can only keep you occupied for so long. At some point, you may want to switch over to another form of entertainment. Cue the games. I spy, 2 truths and a lie, or card games are all easy and light-hearted games to help pass the time! If you prefer to entertain yourself a bit more quietly, bringing along the latest page-turner that you’re reading is also a great option!

Get Moving

Cash, hand sanitizer, Tylenol, and vitamin C tablets are all other small things that you’ll want to pack for your travels. Now you’re set! All you have to do is get there! Be safe and have fun this summer!
