After a long summer filled with heatwaves and perfect beach days, it’s time to retire our bathing suits for fleece and flannels. As the season’s change, so do all activities that we get to enjoy! Today we walk you through the 5 best fall activities to take part in this year. We promise that each one is just as fun as the next one!
Go To A Pumpkin Patch
First on the list of outdoor fall activities is visiting a pumpkin patch…because we seriously can’t think of anything that epitomizes fall any better. We recommend visiting Happy Hollow, just a quick 20-minute drive from Regina off Highway 11. Their general admission fee is $13.00 and they’re open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am – 6 pm! With an abundance of pumpkins and gourds in all shapes, colours, and sizes, you may have a tough time deciding on just one! Pick a few for the perfect fall pumpkin utopia!
Get Lost In A Corn Maze
Getting lost in a corn maze is basically what nostalgia dreams are made of. Cedar Creek Gardens, just 2 miles south of Regina on Highway 6 is the perfect place to spend an afternoon getting lost! Their hours of operation are 7 days a week from 10 am- 5pm so feel free to visit whenever you’d like! Pro tip: Go early in the week to avoid crowds on the corn maze path. They charge $10 for the maze admission and the maze will take you approximately 45 minutes to complete! Make sure to stop by the petting zoo while you’re there. The goats, pigs, and the cat are the cutest, nicest, and furriest creatures! Cedar Creek Gardens is also opening a brand new mini golf this September! While you’re there you may as well try your luck at some putting!
Go For A Hike
As the colours of the leaves are changing, going for a hike is the perfect way to take in all the beauty that is the red, yellow, and orange-hued trees! Wascana trails is an awesome spot to check out as it’s a quick 30-minute drive from the city. With 15km of trails for walking and hiking, you’re in for a seriously peaceful afternoon of frolicking in the trails. With a green, blue, and black trail, tailor your hike to your desired difficulty level. The winding trails, abrupt elevations, and peaceful river is truly an ideal way to spend a crisp fall afternoon! Pro tip: Bring a hot beverage, perhaps a hot chocolate or pumpkin spiced latte to keep your hands warm and really get into the fall spirit.
Tour A Winery
Over The Hill Orchards and Winery is the ideal place to spend a sunny fall evening. Enjoy one of their dry or semi-sweet wines while sitting on the patio that overlooks the Qu’appelle Valley. As their season Closes Sunday, October 11 we urge you to get out there as soon as possible! Their hours of operation are Friday- Sunday from 12pm- 8 pm but if you want to do it right we recommend doing one of their private wine tastings or if you’re privy to the finer foods in life, buying tickets to one of their Supper in the Orchard dinners. During the supper, you’ll receive two stunning courses accompanied by two wine pairings. The night ends with a 30-minute tour of the orchard to round out the end of a pretty close to perfect evening.
Have a Fall Picnic
Pack your flannels, blankets, and your toques and enjoy a lovely fall picnic in the park! Cheese, crackers, meats, and fruits will make for a hearty enjoyable snack! Pack a canister with hot chocolate and take in the beautifully coloured array of fall leaves! Plus, bring along a football to toss around and keep you warm while you brave the elements!

Regardless of if you choose to partake in one or all of these outdoor fall activities, be safe and have a lot of fun along the way!
